Burkina Faso–Mali
The Burkina Faso–Mali border extends for 1,400 km and is based on French colonial boundaries. A dispute over an area known as the Agacher Strip was submitted to the International Court of Justice (ICJ) during the 1980s, and both countries accepted the 1986 ICJ Judgment resolving the conflict. The boundary was then delimited and demarcated by a Burkinabe–Malian commission. The Burkinabe and Malian governments share generally stable relations and frequently cooperate in joint operations against terrorist and rebel groups that are present throughout the region.
