Vietnam Extended Continental Shelf Claim

On 17 July 2024, Vietnam submitted a claim to the United Nations Commission on the Limits of the Continental Shelf (CLCS) for an extended continental shelf (ECS) in respect to Vietnam’s entitlements in the South China Sea (SCS).

Canada–United States Maritime Negotiations

On 24 September 2024, the United States and Canada announced their intention to create a Joint Task Force to negotiate a maritime boundary in the Arctic’s Beaufort Sea. Maritime entitlements to the continental shelf generated by the US state of Alaska and by the Canadian provinces of Yukon and the Northwest Territories overlap in the Beaufort Sea.

Germany–Denmark Boundary Demarcation Exercise

More than 500 boundary markers lie along the 146 kilometer (91 mile) long border between Germany and Denmark. Over the course of two days, 28–29 August 2024, specialists working on the German–Danish boundary committee assessed the state of the land border and surveyed where flaws or inconsistencies may exist in its demarcation.
