France (Wallis & Futuna)–Tonga

In 1980, France (on behalf of Wallis & Futuna) and Tonga, agreed to establish their maritime boundary based on the principle of equidistance. The maritime boundary between the two States begins in the southwest at a tripoint shared with Fiji and follows along a generally northeasterly bearing before ending at a tripoint with Samoa. The boundary, which is in the central south Pacific Ocean, extends for 216 nautical miles. The actual coordinate locations for the turning points are not included in the Agreement, which simply defines the frontier as being the “equidistance line” between the baselines of both States.
