The land boundary between Central African Republic and Sudan was established by French and British colonial authorities in 1924. While the alignment of the Central African Republic–Sudan frontier is not disputed, it does abut a contested region between Sudan and South Sudan, known as Kafia Kingi, leaving the precise location of the southern tripoint in dispute and almost 300 km of the eastern boundary of Central African Republic in flux between the administration of Sudan or South Sudan. Continuing north from the undetermined tripoint location with South Sudan, the Central African Republic–Sudan frontier follows straight lines and man-made features for 170 km to the tripoint with Chad in the north.
