France (French Polynesia)–Kiribati (Line Islands)
French Polynesia, a semi-autonomous French territory, and Kiribati, a Pacific island archipelagic nation, established their maritime boundary in 2002. The boundary spans 546 nautical miles and runs from west to east in the South Pacific Ocean. The boundary was based on the equidistance methodology and is comprised of a starting point, a terminal point, and four interior turning points. Kiribati’s Flint and Caroline Islands, part of the Line Islands group, and French Polynesia’s Motu One, Tupai, Mataiva, Tikehou, Rangiroa and Ahe were contributing features in the calculation of the equidistant boundary.
