Thailand–Vietnam

In 1997, Thailand and Vietnam signed an agreement that established a 76 nautical mile-long maritime boundary between their opposing coastlines. The boundary is defined by a single line segment that is located near the mouth of the Gulf of Thailand. The boundary, as described in Article 1 of the Agreement, originates at point C (7° 48′ 00″ N, 103° 02′ 30″ E) and terminates at point K, (8° 46′ 54.7754″ N, 102° 12′ 11.6542″ E).

The Agreement is Vietnam’s first maritime boundary agreement and the first in the Gulf of Thailand. The boundary delimits the continental shelves of the two States and lies between two joint development areas, one in the north, shared between Cambodia and Vietnam, and the other in the south, shared between Malaysia and Thailand.
