Central African Republic–Chad
The international boundary between the Central African Republic (CAR) and Chad was originally delimited as an internal administrative division of colonial French Africa. Today, it extends for 1,762 km from the tripoint with Cameroon in the west to the tripoint with Sudan in the east. It was never delimited in great detail or demarcated by the French colonial government, and the mapping practices of France’s Institut Géographique National (IGN) have played an important role in the development of the location of the modern boundary.
