France (Wallis & Futuna)–New Zealand (Tokelau)

In 2003, the maritime boundary between Wallis & Futuna and Tokelau was established as part of a bilateral agreement between France and New Zealand. The boundary extends from southeast to northwest for 101 nautical miles across the South Pacific Ocean and provides an all-purpose delimitation of the overlapping maritime entitlements of the two States. Only three points were used in delimiting the frontier, which is equidistant between the basepoints of Wallis Island and the Tokelauan islands of Atafu and Nukunonu.

In 2012, a joint submission to the Commission on the Limits of the Continental Shelf (CLCS) was made by Tuvalu, Wallis & Futuna (France) and Tokelau (New Zealand), claiming an area of extended continental shelf in the South Pacific Ocean. The three States plan to divide the area, which is known as Robbie Ridge, trilaterally if the CLCS rules in favor of the claim.
