France (French Polynesia)–United Kingdom (Pitcairn Islands)
The maritime boundary between the semi-autonomous French territory of French Polynesia and the British overseas territory of the Pitcairn Islands runs north to south in the Southern Pacific Ocean, extending for 358 nautical miles. In 1983, France and the United Kingdom delimited the overlapping maritime entitlements of their Pacific territories utilizing the equidistance methodology.
The contributing feature of French Polynesia is Temoe, an uninhabited atoll which belongs to the Gambier Archipelago. The Gambier Archipelago is located at the southeastern most tip of the much larger Tuamatu Archipelago. For the United Kingdom’s Pitcairn Islands, the small uninhabited island of Oeno controls the equidistance line.
