The maritime boundary between Denmark (Greenland) and Norway (Jan Mayen) was initially established by an International Court of Justice Judgment that was handed down in 1993. Two years later Denmark and Norway bilaterally agreed to make slight adjustments to the Court’s modified equidistance boundary. In 1997, the boundary was extended to the south to the newly agreed upon tripoint location with Iceland. The initial 1993 boundary spans some 325 nautical miles from north to south, and the final segment extension from 1997 added an additional 21 nautical miles to the boundary’s overall length.
