The boundary between Central African Republic (CAR) and the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) was established in the late 19th century by French colonial powers and the Congo Free State, which received intermittent Belgian administration. The border has not changed since both States’ independence in 1960. The line follows the Oubanghi and M’Bomou Rivers for almost its entirety, spanning 1,792 km from the tripoint with Republic of the Congo in the west to the tripoint with South Sudan in the east.
